Reward. Excite. Inspire.
A fun-filled day out for your school or youth group…
Young people have to deal with a lot these days. Between the classroom and the screen, it’s easy to feel a bit "plugged in." There’s nothing quite like the salty air of the North Sea to help you forget your worries, let loose, and go wild!
At CBK Adventures, we turn that coastal spirit into transformative experiences for ages 7 to 17. From the historic shores of Cullercoats Bay to the hidden corners of the North East coast, we provide a safe, high-energy environment where students can build resilience, discover new skills, and, most importantly, have a blast.
There’s a reason we see the same familiar schools returning to CBK Adventures season after season. It’s about so much more than just splashing around in the North Sea - it’s about those "lightbulb" moments that you just can't recreate in a classroom. It’s not just a day out; it’s a memory that sticks long after the wetsuits have dried.
The Power of Blue Spaces
There is something uniquely restorative about the water. Research increasingly shows that spending time in "blue spaces" like coastal environments have a profound impact on a young person's mental health. Unlike the structured, high-pressure environment of a classroom, the ocean offers a natural reset, helping to lower cortisol levels and reduce anxiety.
Engaging with the coast encourages mindfulness and resilience. Whether it’s finding balance on a paddleboard or navigating the shoreline during coasteering, students develop a sense of self-confidence and soft fascination that clears the mind. Beyond the physical exercise, our sessions provide a space for youth groups to disconnect from screens and reconnect with nature, leaving them feeling calmer, more focused, and mentally refreshed.
How does a day with us look?
Arrival & Gear Up
Head to our Cullercoats base, where we’ll handle check-in and professional fitting for wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets. To maximise your time on the water, we use a combination of large changing tents and individual huts to get your group ready quickly and efficiently. Before we head down to the beach, you’ll receive a Health & Safety brief from our qualified guides.
The Action
After a short walk to the beach and a fun warm-up, we dive into our activity rotation. We split groups into a 1:8 instructor ratio, ensuring everyone gets a turn at everything. Depending on the day's conditions, group size and ability, you’ll rotate through a selection of activities, such as:
Kayaking (Single & Tandem)
Paddleboarding (Single & XL SUP)
Coasteering
Weather-Proof Alternatives
In the lead up to your activities, we’ll be keeping an eye on the weather conditions - if conditions shift, we pivot to exciting alternatives like bodyboarding, pier jumps, snorkelling, rock-pooling, beach games and rescue skills. This flexibility means you can book with confidence, knowing we have a plan for every forecast.
After two hours of adventure, we head back for a quick change. Groups staying for the full day will have a scheduled lunch break before the afternoon session begins.
Where are we located?
Cullercoats Bay
Nestled between the bustling hubs of Tynemouth and Whitley Bay, Cullercoats Bay is a hidden gem on the North East coast. This small bay provides a natural sanctuary, making it one of the safest and most picturesque spots for watersports in the region. Its unique geography often offers sheltered waters even when the North Sea is lively, providing the perfect outdoor classroom for young adventurers to build their confidence.
Steeped in local history, the bay offers more than just a place to paddle. When you visit us, you’re not just hitting the water, you’re immersing your group in a vibrant coastal community with stunning cliffs and intriguing caves.
We are located just a 5 minute walk from Cullercoats Metro Station. Nexus offer a Class and Youth Group Metro Pass which is ‘valid for up to 40 students aged 18 and under and up to 10 accompanying adults travelling in a group.’ Click here for more information.

Sometimes the weather will not play ball and we will be required to amend the format of a session. Being located on the North East coast, this is something we are well practised in and should this be deemed necessary, we will always err on the side of caution and consider all aspects of planning to ensure your group get the most out of their time with us whilst maintaining our usual high levels of safety. We have a number of contingency plans in place and will, of course, keep you informed every step of the way.
We will always do our best to get your group out on the water safely and appreciate there is nothing more frustrating than a last minute cancellation or re-scheduling when organising a large group.
While we’re experts at adapting sessions to suit the British weather, safety always comes first. If the conditions mean we can’t get your group on the water safely, we’ll reschedule or arrange a credit note. Our team will be on hand to help you find the best alternative date so the kids don't miss out on the fun.
