Action packed coastal adventures for kids

Our 3-day Summer Adventure Camp is designed for young explorers who love the outdoors, fresh air and trying exciting new activities.

Across three unforgettable days, children will take part in a wide range of action packed coastal adventures, developing confidence, teamwork and outdoor skills while having an incredible amount of fun.

Based by the sea, every day combines water-based activities, beach exploration and land adventures, giving kids the chance to discover the coastline in a safe and supportive environment.

What to expect

Each day is packed with adventure, creativity and exploration. Activities vary depending on the weather conditions and tide but may include:

Ocean adventure challenges, bodyboarding and wave play, rock pooling and coastal exploration, beach games and team challenges, shelter building and outdoor survival skills, navigation and orienteering adventures, beach crafts and creative challenges, water safety skills and confidence building,

Along the way, children will learn about the coastal environment and marine life, helping them develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

This program is perfect for children aged 7–12 yrs who are ready to swap screen time for wave time, develop new skills and make lasting friendships along the way. Running each week throughout the summer holidays, our coastal base provides the perfect setting for adventure, exploration and plenty of laughter.

FAQs

Who is this activity suitable for?

This activity is suitable for children ages 7 to 12 years old. It is important that your child is:

  • Able to swim short distances unaided and feels confident floating in water

  • Is not fearful of open water

  • Is able to put on a wetsuit unaided. If not, we ask that parents assist on the first day.

Where do I pick up and drop off?

Pick up and drop off is from Cullercoats Fishermen’s Mission, 13 Promontory Terrace, Cullercoats NE26 2PF.

Drop off is 9am, pickup is at 4pm. We use a password system to ensure your child only departs with an authorised adult.

What do you provide?

  • Professional instructors who will be with the group at all times. All instructors have Enhanced DBS, outdoor first aid and safeguarding training.

  • Small group coaching. Our instructor to participant ratio is 1:8

  • Multiple watersports activities, suitable for the day’s conditions and group ability

  • All equipment required for the sessions

  • 5mm full length wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet and any other required safety equipment

What do I need to bring?

You will be provided with an ‘All you need to know’ ahead of your child’s visit. This will outline the proposed itinerary for the week, based on the forecast conditions. While it may not seem like every item is essential, the weather can change quickly therefore it is essential to be prepared.

Please pack all items each day.

  • Packed lunch (please do not bring any food items that may contain nut traces)

  • Snacks 

  • Waterbottle

  • Warm clothes and warm hat 

  • Sun hat or cap 

  • Waterproof jacket

  • Indoor shoes / sliders / slippers 

  • Water shoes / wetsuit boots 

  • A big towel / change robe

  • Swimwear for under wetsuit 

  • Suncream (SPF 50)

  • Essential medications
